Action News has confirmed that a suspect has been arrested for the assault of a crossing guard in Darby Borough, Delaware County.

The incident took place shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Monday during school dismissal outside Walnut Street Elementary School, with students witnessing the event.
Authorities report that the crossing guard was helping children cross the street when a man exited his vehicle, chased her down the sidewalk, and punched her in the face.
Surveillance footage captured the assault, showing the guard falling to the ground after being struck. She told police she lost consciousness as the man returned to his car and drove away quickly.
