A suspect has been arrested for the assault of a crossing guard in Darby Borough, Delaware County.
Rashiem Russell, 29, from West Philadelphia, was taken into custody at 11 a.m. Friday in Darlington, South Carolina.
He is currently being held and is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
The attack happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Monday during school dismissal outside Walnut Street Elementary School, with students witnessing the event.
According to authorities, the crossing guard was helping children cross the street when a man exited his vehicle, chased her down the sidewalk, and punched her in the face.
Surveillance footage captured the assault, showing the guard falling to the ground after the blow. She reported to police that she was knocked unconscious as the man returned to his car and drove away.

Investigators believe the suspect became impatient after the guard stopped traffic to allow students to board a school bus.
The guard sustained swelling to her face. Police say she regained consciousness, walked home, and then contacted authorities.
The crossing guard has since resigned from her position.
